What is CrowdCam

CrowdCam is It's Buzzing's crowd-sourced multi-angle camera system. Instead of hiring a camera crew or paying for multiple cameras and operators, you simply display a QR code at your venue. Attendees scan it with their phone, and their camera automatically streams to your Director's Wall — a live grid showing all active feeds.

The organizer (director) sits backstage with a tablet or laptop, sees all attendee feeds in real time, and clicks any feed to switch it to the main broadcast output. This gives you professional multi-angle coverage with zero production overhead.

How It Works (for Attendees)

Here's the attendee experience from start to finish:

1
Organizer creates a CrowdCam event You log in to your It's Buzzing account and visit itsbuzzing.com/crowdcam to create a new event.
2
A unique QR code is generated Your event gets its own QR code that links to the streaming page. This code is unique to your event.
3
Display the QR at your venue Project the QR code on a screen, print it on handouts, or display it on multiple locations around the venue so attendees can easily find it.
4
Attendees scan with their phone camera Any attendee can open their phone camera app, point it at the QR code, and tap the link. No app download needed — it opens in their mobile browser.
5
Their phone starts streaming Once they tap the link, their phone's camera automatically connects to the Director's Wall. They just hold their phone up and their angle is live.
6
Organizer switches between feeds You see all active feeds on the Director's Wall grid. Click any feed tile to instantly switch it to the main broadcast output that viewers see.

The Director's Wall

The Director's Wall is your control center. It's a live grid showing all active phone feeds from attendees. Here's what you see and how to use it:

Feed Grid

All active phone feeds appear as tiles in a grid layout. You can see up to 50 simultaneous feeds at once. Each tile shows:

Switching Feeds

Click any feed tile to instantly switch it to the main broadcast output. Your viewers will see that angle appear on screen. The MAIN badge moves to the new feed.

Auto-Switch Mode

Enable AI auto-switching and CrowdCam will automatically pick the best angle every 10–15 seconds. The AI considers:

Manual Mode

In manual mode, you have full control. Every switch is your decision. Use this when you want to highlight a specific angle or follow action on stage.

Setting Up Your Event

Follow these steps to create and configure your CrowdCam event:

1
Log in to It's Buzzing Go to itsbuzzing.com and sign into your account. If you don't have one, create it first.
2
Navigate to CrowdCam Click "Cover Your Next Event" or visit itsbuzzing.com/crowdcam.
3
Enter event details Fill in your event name, date, time, location, and expected attendee count. This helps CrowdCam optimize feed management.
4
Download or display your QR code Your unique event QR code appears instantly. You can download it as PNG/PDF or display it directly from your account dashboard.
5
Share your viewer stream link CrowdCam generates a public viewer link so your audience (on Twitch, YouTube, or your website) can watch the multi-angle feed. Share this link in your event description or pre-event email.

Pro Tip: Test your QR code with your own phone 24 hours before the event to make sure the streaming page loads correctly and your browser supports the camera permissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my audience need to download an app? +

No. Attendees scan a QR code and their phone browser opens the streaming page directly. It works on any modern iPhone or Android device — no app download required. The streaming page is optimized for mobile and uses the device's built-in camera access.

How many phones can stream at once? +

CrowdCam supports up to 50 simultaneous phone feeds on the Director's Wall. The grid automatically sorts feeds by quality, so the best angles appear first. If you have more than 50 attendees with cameras, lower-quality feeds may be deprioritized, but the grid will refresh in real time as feeds drop on and off.

What happens to the footage after the event? +

All feeds are automatically recorded and saved to your CrowdCam event dashboard. Recordings are stored for 48 hours by default. You can download individual clips from specific attendees or request a full edited compilation from your team. After 48 hours, recordings are archived (you can request retrieval if needed).

Can I use CrowdCam alongside a professional camera? +

Yes. CrowdCam feeds can be mixed with any professional camera source (Canon EOS, Sony, DSLR, etc.) through your StreamStage producer dashboard. You can switch between CrowdCam angles and your dedicated camera feed on the same director interface. This gives you the best of both worlds — professional quality plus crowd perspective.

What's the minimum internet speed for attendees? +

Each phone needs approximately 2 Mbps upload speed to stream reliably. Most modern 4G and 5G connections qualify. WiFi also works great — just make sure your venue's WiFi can handle the upload bandwidth. For a 100-person venue, estimate ~100 Mbps aggregate upload available (so your internet pipe should be at least 250+ Mbps for safety).
